Charities & Campaigns

There are a number of charities and campaigns which I am  or have supported  through the generosity of the Fund for the Environment and Urban Life’s Advisors  grants  scheme. These include:

  • Sustain, where I have supported their urban agriculture work,
  • Garden Organic where I am supporting their Sowing New Seeds project and their Heritage Seed Library. Take a look at the piece on SNS published by Guardian on line in July 2012,
  • a  film maker based in the USA, Karney Hatch who has just completed  a documentary on world wide urban agriculture, Plant this movie. Narrated by Daryl Hannah it was premiered at the Portland Film Festival in August 2014.

I joined Lendwithcare, a joint venture between Care International and the Co-operative Group in July 2012. It supports entrepreneurs across the developing world with micro finance loans. I am currently loaning to a poultry raiser in Bosnia, a cafe and a market stall selling food in Malawi, a fish monger in Togo, a coffee and pig producer in Ecuador and a farmer in Cambodia.

I am also crowd funding the development of the blight resistant sarpo mira potato through Buzzbnk.
