I have been a member of Garden Organic since the 1980’s, when it was known as the Henry Doubleday Research Association (HDRA). It won’t have escaped the notice of regular readers that I have been a keen gardener since childhood.
Garden Organic has been important to me for a long time and I was elected as as Trustee in May 2012. I was elected Chair at the AGM in May 2016. I have been Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee and its Ethics Committee, and have been Trustee safeguarding lead, but stepped down as Chair and as a Trustee in May 2018 – to coincide with my retiring from the William Morris Society.
Garden Organic is based at Ryton Gardens just outside Coventry and also has an office in London.
I have financially supported Garden Organic, the Sowing New Seeds Project and the Heritage Seed Library though my connection with the Fund for the Environment and Urban Life over the past few years.
